Why clean the dress soon after the wedding
A wedding dress goes through a lot in one day: makeup at the neckline, perspiration, a hem that has crossed pavement, grass, dance floors and spilled drinks. Some of those marks are invisible at first. Sugary drinks and body oils can oxidize over time and turn into yellow or brown stains months later. That's why it's wise to have the dress cleaned in the weeks after the wedding, rather than leaving it in a closet "for later."

Inspection
The dress is checked from neckline to hem. We note stains, loose beads, lace snags and any fragile trim, and we'll contact you about anything that needs a decision.
Cleaning
The dress is cleaned according to its fabric, construction and care label.
Finishing
Pressing or steaming as the fabric allows, with any agreed repairs.
Return or preservation
The dress comes back on a hanger in a garment bag, or prepared for long-term storage if you chose preservation.

Preservation, explained simply
Preservation means preparing the cleaned dress for long-term storage so it holds up as well as possible. That typically involves storing it away from light, dust and humidity, using materials that won't transfer color or acid onto the fabric, and folding or supporting it so the weight isn't hanging on delicate seams. The specific materials and packaging we use will be explained when you book. Ask us about our damage and satisfaction policy.
Wherever you store the finished dress, keep it somewhere cool, dry and dark, such as an interior closet rather than a garage or a sunny loft corner. Check on it once in a while, and handle it with clean hands.
Before the wedding, too
Dresses often arrive creased from shipping or storage. A pre-wedding pressing or steaming gets it ready for the day. If it needs fitting, start alterations well in advance; bridal alterations can take several sessions. The rest of the wedding party's suits and dresses can go through regular dry cleaning pickup.
Other wedding pieces
The dress isn't the only thing worth keeping. Veils, sashes, the groom's suit, ring-bearer outfits and bridesmaid dresses can all be cleaned in the same pickup. Note each item in your booking and mention any stains you remember from the day: a toast spill, a grass mark from photos, or a dance-floor scuff on the hem.
Heirlooms and older gowns
Inherited dresses can be decades old and more fragile than they look. Older fabrics, yellowing and previous storage damage all affect what cleaning can realistically achieve. We'll inspect the dress and tell you honestly what to expect before any work starts. Pickup is available from homes in South Park and across downtown.

As soon as practical. Some stains, especially from sugary drinks and body oils, become harder to remove the longer they sit.
Can every stain be removed?
Not always. Older or set-in stains may not come out completely. We'll tell you what we see during inspection before cleaning starts.
