How fitting works with pickup

Alterations need accurate measurements, and there are a few ways to get them without coming to a shop:

• Pin it yourself. For simple hems, put the garment on with the shoes you'll wear, pin the length you want, and send it with your pickup.
• Send a reference. If you have a pair of trousers that fits perfectly, send it along and we'll match the measurements.
• Measurements in notes. If you know the inseam or sleeve length you want, add it to your order.
• Fitting appointment. For more involved work, such as suits and formal dresses, ask about arranging a fitting.

Suits and workwear

A suit that fits well looks more expensive than one that doesn't, whatever it cost. Shortening sleeves to show a little shirt cuff, taking in the waist of a jacket and getting the trouser break right are small changes that transform how a suit looks. For people working in the Financial District towers, a few tailored workhorse pieces are worth more than a closet of near-misses.

Repairs that save clothes

Plenty of good clothes get pushed to the back of the closet for small reasons: a broken zipper, a split seam, a missing button, a torn lining. Repairs are usually quick and inexpensive, and they bring favorites back into rotation. Mention repairs in your notes and add them to any dry cleaning pickup, so the garment comes back both mended and cleaned.

Alterations take time, especially in busy seasons such as late spring and early summer, when weddings, graduations and events stack up. Schedule well before you need the garment, and tell us your date when you book. We pick up across South Park and the rest of downtown.
